Days 28-30

I am getting worse and worse at actually putting up my pics lol I am still taking them, though - my daughter makes sure of that! She reminds me every day by asking, "So, mom, what was your picture for today?" :)

Haevyn's first baby toy. She got this from her Nana Becky for Christmas, 2011. Yes, she's still in my belly but hey, she's here, too! We have been getting all the babies stuff set up and Cole just can't get over how cute it is. He thinks she'll have big pretty blue eyes like this little toy!

Mehkaelie spilled water on my keyboard the other day and instead of telling me and letting me take care of it, she didn't tell me and tried to clean it up herself... which of course, fried my keyboard. So, I bought a new one and forgot how nice it was to be able to actually see all of the letters on the keys! Sadly, it also shows me how dusty my room is. I've only had it on my desk a couple days and it's already collecting dust! (Though, in my defense, I'm sure it had a little dust from the box when I opened it, right?)

My wonderful, beautiful, kind and very generous friend sent me a ton of beautiful baby girl clothes! You can't tell just how many here, but her drawers are stacked full now! Trying to fold baby clothes and make them look neat and orderly when you have so many is a hard task my friends.

Days 26 and 27

26/366 - Mehkaelie at her Recorder Concert
27/366 - Drawings by my loves
Yesterday, Thursday the 26th, Mehkaelie and the 4th grade class put on a little concert for us parents with their recorders. It was a lot of fun to watch and listen to, and Mehkaelie even had a duet with a friend of hers! They did beautifully!! I was a very proud momma :)

My kids have been decorating my wall with their beautiful artwork lately. Mehkaelie seems pretty optimistic of my weight loss after I have Haevyn, doesn't she? Let's hope she's right ;) lol And check out that gorgeous rose Cole drew for me! So pretty! And he's even learning cursive!

Travel System

So I found this travel system a few months ago when I first started my search for a new car seat for Haevyn. I absolutely, positively fell in love with the pattern. It's not your typical pink and brown or pink and white or pink and pink and pink. After looking up reviews from critics as well as many, many reviews from users of the travel system, I was sold. Once I hit 30w I started getting anxious about getting everything together for our little girls arrival, so I ordered this set online from It arrived and I was thrilled! I immediately pulled it out of the box and started putting it together just to find that one of the bars on the frame of the stroller was damaged. Noooo! After contacting both Graco and WalMart the decision was to take the travel system back to the store here and see if it could be exchanged. It couldn't. The money had to be refunded. And not back onto the card, but in cash. Sad. Disappointed. Annoyed.

After looking online again to see how long it would take to ship to the store from online we discovered that it was available for pick-up in a nearby store in a nearby town! Score! Yes! Yahtzee!

And then.... Door slammed in my face. Again. I woke up to an email explaining that they're sorry, but that travel system is not in fact available in store as we thought. So my order had to be cancelled. And the money refunded, again. Back to the card this time, at least. At this rate, though, I'm not going to have it before she gets here and I'll have to change what I want. UGH! Frustrated.

32 Weeks!

Little Miss Haevyn is looking great! She's in the 30th% - weighing in at about 4lb2oz and measuring right exactly on schedule with my 32 weeks! We were able to see her practicing breathing, swallowing, wiggling her fingers and toes and her little mouth was just goin! It was adorable!

24/366 - Haevyn, laying on her arm. Look at that sweet
baby face! Tiny nose, little perfect lips and pretty
almond shaped eyes.. *swoon*

Foot! She was wiggling her toesies at us! Look at that sweet
little foot. I can't wait to kiss those little piggies!!
I'm also considering very seriously going back to the middle name Adalee. It just sounds better, I think, not to mention it was my first choice.. And the fact that I keep calling her Haevyn Adalee lol I just haven't been able to get into the habit of calling her Haevyn Jade. I'm not sure why, I just can't. Cole slips and calls her Haevyn Adalee at times, too so it's not just me! I talked to Joe about it and he thought I should have just kept Adalee to begin with! I'll talk about it with the kids tonight and see what they think. I am pretty sure this will be the last time I change her name, though. Probably. Maybe. We'll see lol

Days 21-22

I know, I know, I'm getting behind already. I am taking pics, I'm just not getting around to posting them lol Not even out of January and I'm forgetting. Eek!

Well, here's Day 21:
This is my playdough girl. The kids and I were playing with playdough and this is what I came up with. She's cool, right?

Day 22:
Even these spicy chicken nuggets from Wendy's know how good they are. They're in heart shapes. YUM! I have been craving nothing but spicy nuggets and ice cream for days now!! I'm terrified to go to the doctor Tuesday morning and step on the scale, but ah well, I'll worry about losing the weight after the baby gets here!

A Trip to the Dentist

20/366 - My girl on the giggle gas
The kids had dentist appointments today, since we scheduled for the same time so we could get in and out Joe went with Cole and I went with Mehkaelie. Cole had sealants put on his teeth and Mehkaelie had a couple of fillings put in. While I can't attest to Cole's reaction, Joe said he did a great job and there were no problems. Mehkaelie did awesome, she just hung back and let them do their thing. She didn't get nervous or flinchy or anything! They gave her some giggle gas to hopefully prevent having to numb her and it worked! No numbing necessary. I just thought she looked cute with the bubblegum nose on :D

Little mister didn't wanna wake up this morning, instead he decided to hibernate in the covers. Cute, isn't he?

Miss Mehkaelie was getting her doodle on this evening, not bad, 'eh?

18/366 - Reminder: Take Your Prenatal Vitamin
I absolutely suck at taking my prenatal vitamin every day.. I'm thinking maybe if I tack this up on my background it will remind me a little more efficiently than my actual reminder that chimes loudly on my phone every evening.

Ya think?

Chocolate Covered Graham Crackers

16/366 - Chocolate Covered Graham Crackers
Yummmmmmmmm. That is all.

The Park

The kids and I walked to the park today. The long way. Which was not as super fantastic an idea as we thought it was at first. My uterus protested loudly and painfully. And my back. And hips. BUT! Once we got there, I was able to sit on a [very hard and uncomfortable] bench, watch the kids play and take some pictures of them. They had a lot of fun, which was what we were going for initially, anyhow. So, mission accomplished. Exercise gained. And children thoroughly worn out this evening. Score.

The Lightning Thief

My daughter is learning about the Greek gods and goddesses in her Gifted And Talented Education program. She's specifically doing a report on Athena. I think this is very appropriate for her, of course. The goddess of wisdom and war. I love it. Anyhow, I immediately thought about Percy Jackson and the Olympians series when I found out what they were doing. I know it's not like giving her a book of the gods and goddesses to actually learn about the myths and such but I love this series so I'm hoping she'll enjoy it, too. She'll get to really start it tomorrow, so we'll see.

Baby Clothes!

12/366 - Baby Clothes!!

12/366 - Baby Clothes!!
Last week I ordered a layette of sweet baby girl clothes and they came today! I have been marveling at how teeny they are and how soft and how sweet and... ok, enough gushing. But they really are just perfect, aren't they?

Wow .. things are starting to really set in now.. I'm going to have a baby soon!! Holy crap!! Please excuse me while I go freak out a bit..

11/366 - <3
I'm in love with my Kindle. Seriously. I even take it to bed with me on a regular basis ;)

Baby Stuff!

10/366 - Flannel Receiving Blankets
Yes, I know, I'm just over 7 weeks away from having her and I'm still getting the most basic of baby stuff. I just love the sweetness, softness and adorableness of them! I have to say it's been so long since I actually held a brand new baby I completely forgot how small they are! It's almost making me nervous to have a newborn around again! Ah well, I have a few more weeks to get over that!

Monday, January 9, 2012

No.. That's not a whale..

9/366 - Ohhh myyyy goddddd
Mehkaelie was playing with the camera tonight, taking pics of different things, mostly me at AWFUL angles. I was sitting in a chair instead of on the couch because my hips were hurting sitting there lol Anyway - this was the least worst one and as no other pics were taken today, this is my 366 pic. Played with the contrast and sharpness quite a bit because it was pretty blurry. Oh and yes, my wall is two toned right now lol

White Chicken Enchiladas with Green Chili Sour Cream Sauce

8/366 - Recipe from Let's Dish Recipes

8 soft taco size flour tortillas
2 cups shredded Monterrey jack cheese, divided
2 cups shredded cooked chicken
3 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons flour
2 cups chicken broth
1 cup sour cream
1 (4 oz) can diced green chiles
Chopped, fresh cilantro for garnish

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Spray a 9x13 inch baking pan with cooking spray; set aside.  Mix the chicken together with 1 cup of the cheese. Distribute the chicken and cheese mixture evenly among the tortillas.  Roll up and place seam side down in the prepared pan. In a large saucepan, melt the butter. Add the flour; cook and stir for 1 minute. Add the chicken broth, whisking until smooth. Continue cooking over medium heat until sauce is thick and bubbly. Stir in the sour cream and diced green chiles. Pour the sauce in an even layer over the enchiladas.  Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden and bubbly. Sprinkle with cilantro just before serving.

I used extra cheese in ours, fresh chopped green chiles (only chopped one, might use more next time) and I didn't use the cilantro, although I did buy it. Just forgot, I was starved!!

These turned out AWESOME. SO good! I'll definitely make them again!

A Sign On The Door

7/366 - Taken at roughly 1am (enhanced so you can read it better,
the one I posted on FB last night was awfully dark I noticed lol)
So last night I decided to have a bright idea. It was to drink a glass of tea at 9pm. While I had good intentions in doing this (I was trying to wake up baby Haevyn since she'd not been moving much and nothing else seemed to be working) it woke me up. Wide awake.

Midnight rolled around and I was still wide awake. I got to thinking that I was going to get very little to no sleep with the every-couple-of-hour-pee-breaks and the kids waking up at the butt crack of dawn.. I decided to try a little experiment. A sign. Simple, right? People read signs, acknowledge them, and [hopefully] respond accordingly.

So here it is, 12:30am and I'm playing on the computer using different fonts and colors to try making it seem a little more kid-friendly. I tried to cover all of my bases, as well. Yes, have cereal breakfast, no don't go outside, yes watch tv or play the wii or computer, take turns, and of course, please don't fight. All I asked for was to sleep until 8. Most people still aren't awake at 8! But my kids, oh my kids wake up at 6:15 on Saturday mornings.

Well.. Guess what? I'm pleased to announce, not only did it work!! I got an extra 30 minutes out of it! Yep, that's right. I slept until 8:30!

Oh yes. My kids rock.

Alright, who poisoned my laundry?

6/366 - RIP Washcloth...
Not what you expect to see when you pull your load of towels out of the dryer.. This poor sage green washcloth seems to have developed some form of deadly mange while it was being cleaned. Either that or someone snuck some sort of poison into my laundry that only effected this one lonely cloth.

RIP Washcloth.. You will be missed.

5/366 - Drawers are clean and the whole 3 items we have for
Haevyn are tucked in.

Well, I didn't think I was going to get anything done today because I woke up with my breasts feeling like someone was slamming them repeatedly between metal sliding doors. Moving at all, especially bending or raising my arms just about killed me.

Anyway, later this evening after a nice hot shower they stopped hurting so bad so I decided to tackle the chest of drawers I posted about the other day. And voila! It's clean and clear and under control! (Wait.. that's a facial cleanser commercial, isn't it?) So yay! Progress!

I also got both of the closets cleaned out in here! Woo! Although, they're full again, but they got cleaned out and straightened up anyway :)

"No thanks, mom"

Cole, this morning; First day back to school
after the holiday break. 4/366

I attempted to wake Cole up this morning and all I could get from him was "No thanks, mom." He very nearly went to school in his cute lil jammies!

Back To School

Well, the holiday break has come to an end. *pout* I've enjoyed having my littles home with me! I'll admit, there may have been one or two times that I was asking "isn't it time for school to be back in session yet?!" but on the whole they were so good this break! Neither of them are looking forward to going back just yet, either. But, I suspect that has more to do with not wanting to wake up early than it does wanting to stay home and spend time with their momma!

I suppose I should go clean up the kitchen, grab my Kindle and get in bed. I have to wake up early now, too! Yuck!

New Years Resolutions

I keep thinking if I write, type, say "2012" enough times, perhaps it will sink in that it is in fact another year. Already. Didn't 2011 just start?? Well, anyway, enough of the "how do the years keep going by SO fast?!" (But really, how do they!?)

My goals for 2012
  • The first thing that tops every resolution list, ever year: Lose weight, get in shape. With the coming of our newest bundle of joy, this will be particularly needed. As I'll be breastfeeding, I won't be dieting too heavily, more or less just keeping my diet clean and healthy. So exercise will be my biggest "to do". Motivation, I do hope you are a good friend this year.
  • Get and stay organized. I am absolutely HORRIBLE at keeping things organized. I throw things wherever they'll fit and leave them there, looking for them later only to have completely forgotten where they got shoved.
2/366 - Clutter. Crafting supplies, recipes,
candles, a birthday bag full of who knows!

  • Read. The new Kindle Touch my daddy got me for Christmas will make this resolution much easier! With all the changes and things this year, I'm not going to try for the normal "50/yr" that most people go for.. I'm going to try for 24. That's only 2/mth. I think I can do that!
  • Cook. I love cooking but for reasons [read: excuses] that always seem to come up, I tend to make the same ol' stuff over and over and I'm getting quite sick of it. But again, this year is going to go off and get hectic on me so I don't want to set an unrealistic goal for myself. 12 new recipes in 12 months seems more than doable, don't you think?
  • 366. And of course, keep up with my 366! One way or another, I want to do this!!

There are 366 days in 2012

Thanks to leap day this year has 366 days. Of course, this happened to be the year I thought I would try to do a "365" blog. You know, post at least one picture every day for every day of the year. I'm not sure how well I'll do. I happen to suck at this sort of thing.. but I really hope I'm able to keep up with it this time. Maybe having something to focus on all year will help me to stay focused on other things as well. We'll see how it works.

My own personal rules:

*I will post at least one picture every day for every day of the year.
*I will not try to make an original blog post or description for every picture. Some days will just be a picture.
*Most of my pictures will be of my children because that's what I know, that's who I am, a mom. They are my world and that is what I see in my world. I'm not going to try to get creative every day, some days it's just going to be my kids doing what ever they're doing.
*I won't post every picture on my blog every day, some days I'll post several to "catch up" but I will post a picture every day somewhere, most likely Facebook.

I hope you all have a fantastic year! 2012, here we are! Let's do this!

--Day 1/366
How my kids celebrated ringing in the New Year:

Mehkaelie: Somewhat awake, but very tired, and extremely giggly! She gets GOOFY when she's so tired!!

Cole: As much as he wanted to be awake and as hard as I tried to wake him, he just couldn't make it. He fell asleep with his party hat next to him and dreamt his way into 2012.
